Uses

How it works

Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding the 50S ribosomal subunit.

Common side effects

  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhoea

Serious side effects

  • QT prolongation
  • Liver injury (rare)

Who should not take it

Known macrolide allergy; significant liver disease.

Drug interactions

Caution with QT-prolonging drugs and antacids.

Store below 30°C.
